'കേരളം' എന്ന് മാറ്റിയാൽ പിന്നെ 'കേരളീയൻ' ആരാകും? ശശി തരൂരിന്റെ പരിഹാസം

തിരുവനന്തപുരം | കേരളത്തിന്റെ പേര് ‘കേരളം’ എന്ന് മാറ്റാനുള്ള കേന്ദ്ര മന്ത്രിസഭയുടെ തീരുമാനത്തിന് പിന്നാലെ, ഈ പേരുമാറ്റത്തിലെ ഭാഷാപരമായ വൈരുദ്ധ്യങ്ങളെ പരിഹസിച്ച് ശശി തരൂർ എം പി. തന്റെ എക്സ് ഹാൻഡിലിലൂടെയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം രസകരമായ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ ഉന്നയിച്ചത്.

പേര് മാറ്റുന്നതൊക്കെ നല്ലത് തന്നെ, എന്നാൽ ഇനി മുതൽ കേരളത്തിലുള്ളവരെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷിൽ എന്ത് വിളിക്കുമെന്നാണ് തരൂരിന്റെ ചോദ്യം. നിലവിൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ‘Keralite’, ‘Keralan’ എന്നീ പദങ്ങൾക്ക് പകരം എന്ത് വരുമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

“പുതിയ ‘കേരളം’ എന്ന പേരിനൊപ്പം ‘Keralamite’ എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നത് കേൾക്കാൻ ഒരു സൂക്ഷ്മാണുവിന്റെ (Microbe) പേര് പോലെയുണ്ട്. ‘Keralamian’ എന്ന് വിളിച്ചാൽ അതൊരു അപൂർവ്വ ധാതുവാണെന്നേ (Rare earth mineral) തോന്നു” – തരൂർ കുറിച്ചു.
