Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Grammar പഠിപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ കുട്ടികൾക്ക് ഏറ്റവും അധികം സംശയമുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന tense കളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് Present Perfect Continuous Tense. പേര് കേട്ടാൽ present, structure നോക്കിയാൽ past, usage വരുമ്പോൾ continuity!. അതിനാൽ തന്നെ ഇത് grammarലെ ഒരു “all-in-one’ tense ആണെന്ന് പറയാം.

ഒരു പ്രവർത്തനം എപ്പോൾ തുടങ്ങി, എത്രകാലമായി തുടരുന്നു, ഇപ്പോൾ അതിന്റെ ഫലം എന്താണ് എന്നൊക്കെ വ്യക്തമാക്കാൻ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ഭാഷയിൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന സംവിധാനമാണ് Tense.
അതിനകത്ത്, pastനും presentനും ഇടയിൽ പാലം പണിയുന്ന tense ആണ് Present Perfect Continuous.

 Present Perfect Continuous Tense എന്താണ്?

Pastൽ ആരംഭിച്ച് തുടർന്ന് വന്നതും ഇപ്പോഴും തുടരുന്നതും അഥവാ ഇപ്പോൾ നിർത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അതിന്റെ effect ഇപ്പോഴുമുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ പറയാൻ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന tense ആണ് Present Perfect Continuous Tense.

 Structure (Grammar Formula)

• Subject + has / have + been + V-ing ഇവിടെ
• has / have present
• been past
• V-ing continuity
• ഒരു sentence-ൽ തന്നെ past + present + duration ഒളിപ്പിച്ച grammar brilliance!

 Usages

Usage 1: Pastൽ തുടങ്ങി ഇപ്പോഴും തുടരുന്ന പ്രവർത്തനം. ഇത്തരം sentence കളിൽ സാധാരണയായി for അല്ലെങ്കിൽ since ഉണ്ടാകും.

• I have been living in Kannur for 12 years. ( ഇപ്പോഴും കണ്ണൂരിൽ തന്നെ താമസിക്കുന്നു)
• He has been teaching English since 2013. (ജോലി തീർന്നിട്ടില്ല; ഇപ്പോഴും തുടരുകയാണ്)

Usage 2: Recently നിർത്തിയെങ്കിലും effect ഇപ്പോഴുമുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനം

• You look tired.
• You have been working all night.
• Your hands are dirty.
• What have you been doing?

പ്രവർത്തനം നിർത്തിയെങ്കിലും അതിന്റെ ഫലം ഇപ്പോൾ വ്യക്തമാണ്.

Usage 3: Temporary actions. സ്ഥിരമല്ലാത്ത, കുറച്ചുകാലത്തേക്ക് നടക്കുന്ന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ:

• I have been staying with my friend these days.
• She has been learning Arabic recently.
• For vs Since – ഒരു ചെറിയ Reminder
  for കാലയളവ് (period of time). (for two hours, for many years)
  since ആരംഭ സമയം (point of time). (since morning, since 2010)

 Present Perfect vs Present Perfect Continuous

• I have written a book.
• ജോലി പൂർത്തിയായി.
• I have been writing a book.
• ( ജോലി നടക്കുകയാണ്)

Result പ്രധാനമെങ്കിൽ Present Perfect, Duration പ്രധാനമെങ്കിൽ Present Perfect Continuous.

• I am living here since
  2010
• I have been living here 
  since 2010
• He has been knowing
  the answer
• He has known the 
  answer
